Geographic information system (GIS) and pasture rotation to combat overgrazing.
The pressure of livestock around the rare undeveloped water points caused the degradation of the plant cover (acacias, aristida). The CSH promotes scientific and concerted management of pastoralism.
By combining Sentinel-2 satellite imagery and field surveys, the CSH produces monthly plant biomass maps given to fraction leaders to guide transhumance.
By spacing solar wells 25 kilometers apart and establishing a rotating pastoral fallow, the vegetation regenerates naturally without desertification.
