Emergency Logistics: Distribution of Desert Utility Kits

Technical specifications of isothermal survival equipment and individual ceramic filters distributed in the Sahara.

Energy and Health Insecurity in Isolation Camps

The absence of an electricity network in the camp areas forces the nomads to use toxic combustion inside the tents. Supplying water from temporary gueltas exposes young children to diarrheal diseases. The desert utility kit designed by the CSH provides a robust, reusable and immediately operational hardware solution.

Technical Composition of the CSH Desert Kit

The kit includes: an IP67 waterproof solar lantern with a 6000mAh LiFePO4 battery and backup USB port, a micro-porous ceramic candle gravity water filter (0.1 micron retaining 99.9999% of bacteria and parasites), two 10L BPA-free flexible food containers, a reinforced mylar emergency thermal blanket and a desert first aid kit.

Traceability and Distribution Mapping

Each kit delivery is subject to a numbered signature coupled with a GPS geolocation of the recipient camp. In 2025-2026, 3,400 kits were delivered to the rural caïdats of Daoura, El Hagounia and Bir Anzarane.
